Anatomy in 3 Dimensions - There is no better way to learn anatomy!

Anatomy in 3 Dimensions is the best way to understand the musculoskeletal system and integrate anatomical knowledge into your teaching. Learn the structure and function of bones, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments as well as the origin, insertion and action of the major muscles of movement by building them yourself with clay on a specially designed skeleton called a Maniken.

Learn how muscles move by experiencing each muscle group in action and relating these exercises to functional movement.

This course is designed to help anyone working with the body gain a deeper understanding of how the muscles and bones affect movement and have helped Pilates, other movement specialists, Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, Osteopaths and others gain amazing practical insight into the body.

On this 2 day course we will cover the body from the knees through to the shoulders. You will also:

  • Review the principles of musculoskeletal anatomy

Sunday 18th Equipment WorkshopInteroception and Proprioception in Mindful Pilates Studio Teaching

Neuroscience research on interoception illuminates teaching techniques that facilitate mindful movement in Pilates practice. The most interesting sensory function of fascia is its role in interoception, the ability to receive, appraise and respond to momentary bodily sensation. Disorders of disembodiment may occur when interoception is compromised. Both interoception and proprioception are involved during mindful Pilates movement. In order to facilitate mindful movement an effective Pilates teacher/movement educator must develop the ability to support a client's interoception as well as their proprioception. Learn the mechanisms of interoception. Learn cueing practices that facilitate the integration of interoception and proprioception in support of safe, functional mindful movement practices. These include verbal cues, touch cues, cueing tempo and rhythm, and exercise sequencing. Practice these cueing techniques in movement sequences on the reformer, reformer tower, chairs and barrels.

Time: 11am-4pm
