Acupuncture is a safe, effective and holistic treatment that has been practiced in the Far East for thousands of years. It is based on the meridians, energy lines that circulate throughout the body containing the body’s natural energy known as Qi. When the flow is impaired or disturbed imbalances occur. Common disruptions to the flow are stress, overwork, emotional upset, physical trauma and poor diet. Initial sessions last one hour, and follow-ups are 45 minutes. The number of treatments will vary according to duration and severity of the condition but will be discussed at the initial consultation. During the first consultation questions will be asked about current state of health, body functions and medical history and lifestyle. Further examination will include tongue inspection and pulse taking. Fine needles will be inserted at specific acupuncture points to re-direct, boost, or unblock the circulation of energy (qi) in order for the body to restore balance. They will be left in place for approximately 20-30 minutes and may cause a slight heavy, tingling, buzzing sensation in the limbs and an overall relaxing feeling. Each treatment will be carefully tailored to your individual needs and where appropriate Jane will include other techniques, such as moxabustion, gentle electric stimulation or cupping into the treatments. Only sterile disposable needles are used.
Jane is available on Tuesdays.
