Nikki Chrysostomou is the Founder of Tranquility Pilates Studio. Coming from a movement background her work running and instructing in her studio has gone from strength to strength. Since Tranquility opened in late March 2005 she has helped over 2500 people through her teaching of Pilates and Gyrotonic®.
Nikki has studied with the Pilates Institute and Polestar Pilates UK, has taken workshops with Mary Bowen and Ron Fletcher (the Pilates elders) and has studied at various Pilates studios in New York and Miami. She started teaching Gyrotonic® in 2004 and Gyrokinesis® in 2005, which brought her to work closely with Cori Doetzer (Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® Master Trainer) and has taken intense training with Juliu Horvath (Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® founder).
In September 2007 Nikki decided she wanted to broaden her knowledge of the body and how it functions. She is currently taking a 3 year Shiatsu course with the London College of Shiatsu. This course has given Nikki a better understanding of the body and has helped in determining the underlying problems of client’s pathologies. Why do people feel the way they do? Why do they move in that manner? Why are they in pain? Listening to the clients body and asking the clients body what it wants is becoming a big part of Nikki’s work. This also includes an increase in quality of movement and initiation of movement from the right place.
In October 2008 Nikki was accepted as a Pre-trainer for Gyrotonic®. This not only means Nikki will start to run Gyrotonic level 1 pre-training courses, but she has taken another step to becoming a Master Trainer.
Using her broad knowledge and experience Nikki has decided its now time to start teaching some of her own workshops. She has put together workshops for students already in training or for those just starting out: Client workshops, Instructor workshops and Gyrotonic Level 1 pre-training for more information.
Nikki has also become focused in helping clients release their connective tissue through Pilates and Gyrotonic work and continues to study with deep tissue massage and cranial sacral therapists.
The two most important things for Nikki are:
1. Her Clients and Students
2. Her continuing professional development
Her aim is for her clients to feel and look better, to be able to move as freely and easily as possible and achieve all their functional daily routines without unnecessary strain on their body.
Nikki regularly travels within Europe and to the States to take the right course with the appropriate teacher, keeping her updated and working towards becoming one of the best in her line of work.
